It’s a warning we hear often: never use your phone while driving. The tragic story of 17-year-old Katelyn Ray is a heartbreaking reminder why.
On September 5, 2018, Katelyn was driving to pick up her older sister from work when she failed to notice a school bus slowing down on the highway. Police later discovered she never hit the brakes and still had her phone in her hand after crashing into the back of the bus at high speed.
More than a dozen children were on the bus, but thankfully none were seriously injured. Sadly, Katelyn died instantly.
Police shared the story online to warn others about the dangers of distracted driving, urging everyone to keep their eyes on the road. Her family was left devastated after what began as a normal morning quickly turned into tragedy.
