Posted on May 29, 2026 By admin

Jesse Colin Young, the legendary frontman of The Youngbloods, has passed away at the age of 83. A representative confirmed that the iconic musician died at his home in Aiken, South Carolina.

Born Perry Miller on November 22, 1941, in Queens, New York, Jesse Colin Young became one of the defining voices of the 1960s counterculture movement. As the leader of The Youngbloods, he helped create the timeless hit “Get Together,” a song promoting peace and unity that became an anthem of the Woodstock generation.

Before forming the band, Young released solo albums and later went on to enjoy a successful solo career blending folk, rock, blues, and jazz influences. Albums like Song for Juli and Light Shine showcased his unique sound and passion for social and environmental causes.

Despite personal struggles, including battling Lyme disease, Young continued making music for decades. His final years reflected the same message of hope, love, and unity that made him a music legend.
