Former New York Rangers player Ron Duguay is battling Stage IV colon cancer, and his family says the journey has been extremely difficult, with several close calls and ongoing treatments since his diagnosis in November 2024.
His daughter, Shay Thomas, said he was first diagnosed after experiencing fatigue and stomach issues while visiting Alaska with his girlfriend, Sarah Palin. Further tests revealed the cancer had spread to his liver. Since then, he has undergone surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, with mixed results and recent setbacks, though he was recently approved for a promising clinical trial.
Throughout his treatment, Palin has remained very supportive, often traveling to be by his side during hospital stays. The family continues to help manage his care while dealing with emotional and financial strain.
A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $109,000 to cover medical and travel expenses as Duguay focuses on recovery and hopes to eventually give back to others.
