Georgia Math Teacher Killed In Prank Gone Wrong Outside Home; 5 Teens Charged!

Posted on June 4, 2026 By admin

A Georgia high school math teacher, Jason Hughes, 40, tragically died after a late-night prank outside his home turned fatal.

Authorities said several teens were covering his property with toilet paper when Hughes went outside to investigate. As the teens tried to leave, Hughes approached their vehicles, tripped, and fell into the roadway. Investigators say 18-year-old Jayden Wallace accidentally ran over him while driving away.

The teens stopped and attempted to provide first aid until emergency responders arrived. Hughes was taken to a local hospital but died from his injuries the following day.

Wallace was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, criminal trespass, and littering. Four other teens were charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass and littering.

Hughes, a beloved math teacher and golf coach at North Hall High School, is survived by his wife Laura, also a teacher, and their two children.

A GoFundMe fundraiser created to support his family and help fund his children’s future has already raised more than $62,000.
