Usha Vance is the Second Lady of the United States. While JD Vance and Donald Trump are often seen together, Usha and Melania Trump have had few public appearances, except for a recent joint visit to a military base in North Carolina.
Before her public role, Usha worked as a trial lawyer and clerk at the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, later joining Munger, Tolles & Olson in 2019, where she focused on complex civil litigation. She resigned after JD Vance’s vice presidential nomination to focus on family and her new duties.
Now serving as Second Lady, Usha says she misses parts of her former life but is also embracing her current role. She recently spoke about Melania Trump, saying they are different people but “get along pretty well.”
Usha described enjoying conversations with Melania about family life and shared interests, adding that Melania is “very focused, effective, and gets things done step by step,” which she finds inspiring.
