I Lost My Best Friend in a Crash — Then Her Number Called Me Last Night.

Posted on June 15, 2026 By admin

Seven years after Adira was presumed dead in a crash, I received a text from her old number containing a photo from her 16th birthday. The message led me to my mailbox, where I found old pictures of us and a recent photo of me taken without my knowledge.

When I called the number, I heard Adira’s voice. She asked me to meet her at our old lookout at dawn. There she stood—alive. She revealed that she had survived the crash after fleeing in fear because the older man she had been involved with had caused the accident. Believing she would be blamed, she disappeared and secretly watched my life from afar.

Adira had returned because she was dying from late-stage leukemia. She also had a young son, Kian, in foster care, and asked if I would take him in. Over the following months, Kian became part of my life while Adira and I cherished the time she had left.

After Adira passed away peacefully, Kian stayed with me. Two years later, he is thriving. Every night, we tell her about our day. Sometimes people return when you least expect it—and sometimes love comes back in the form of a child who needs you.
