Beloved Houston Restaurant Owners and Their Two Children Found Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide

Posted on June 17, 2026 By admin

Texas restaurateur Matthew Mitchell, his wife Thy Mitchell, and their two young children were found dead in their Houston home in what authorities described as a suspected murder-suicide.

Police said the family was discovered after a welfare check was requested when they could not be reached. Evidence at the scene indicated that Matthew allegedly shot his wife and children before taking his own life, though investigations are ongoing.

The couple were well-known in Houston’s food scene as the founders of Travelers Table and Traveler’s Cart, both celebrated for globally inspired cuisine and appearances on national food television programs.

Family members have since confirmed the deaths, while the community continues to mourn the loss of the family behind the popular restaurant brand.
