Jesse Colin Young, the lead singer and guitarist of The Youngbloods, has died at age 83 at his home in South Carolina. Best known for the 1960s peace anthem “Get Together,” he helped define the folk-rock and counterculture sound of his era. Born Perry Miller in 1941, he began as a solo folk artist before forming The Youngbloods, later continuing a solo career that blended folk, rock, blues, and jazz. He remained active in music for decades, releasing work even in his later years.
