Biden Isn’t Done Yet
Joe Biden may be out of the Oval Office, but he’s not out of the fight. At a recent conference in Chicago, the former president delivered a fiery speech, targeting his successor and defending Social Security.
Speaking at the Advocates, Counselors and Representatives for the Disabled conference, Biden shared personal stories before shifting to what he called a key issue for millions: Social Security.
Marking the Democrats’ Social Security National Day of Action, he praised those helping people with disabilities and emphasized the importance of protecting benefits Americans have earned over a lifetime of work.
Without naming Trump, Biden criticized past efforts to “cut and gut” the program, referencing a proposal to reauthorize Social Security every five years. “Who the hell do they think they are?” he asked, slamming what he called “profligate” tax cuts for the wealthy under Trump.
He also defended his administration’s investment to improve services and cut wait times, warning that the current agenda is causing “needless pain.”
Biden quoted an ally: “They want to wreck it so they can rob it,” adding, “I refuse to go along with any of it.”
His closing message was clear: elected officials must serve the people and keep their promises. The crowd applauded — but his remarks reignited a national debate: Should Social Security be reformed or protected at all costs?
