Saudi royal Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, widely known as the “Sleeping Prince,” has died at the age of 36 after spending nearly two decades in a coma.
He was involved in a severe car accident in 2005 while studying in London, which left him with catastrophic brain injuries and a permanent vegetative state. He was then transferred to King Abdulaziz Medical City, where he remained on life support for over 20 years.
Throughout that time, his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, maintained a constant vigil, keeping his son’s room decorated for holidays and continuing to hold onto hope for recovery.
On July 19, 2025, the family announced his death, sharing a message of grief and faith. A funeral prayer was later held in Saudi Arabia with family and close supporters.
