Trump’s statement after fatal FSU shooting sparks outrage

Posted on April 18, 2025 By admin

A fatal school shooting occurred at Florida State University on April 17, 2025, where a gunman opened fire, killing two and injuring six others. The suspect, Phoenix Ikner, 20, is believed to have used his mother’s former service weapon.

President Trump addressed the shooting in a press conference, expressing his support for the Second Amendment, saying, “The gun doesn’t do the shooting, the people do.” His response drew criticism for being insensitive and deflecting from the need for gun control. Many questioned his focus on the Second Amendment instead of offering solutions to prevent such tragedies.

The shooter was injured and hospitalized, and the motive remains unclear. The identities of the victims have not been released.
