The football community is mourning after a powerful earthquake struck northern Venezuela, causing widespread destruction in the Caracas and La Guaira regions.
Argentine defender Lucas Trejo, who was in Caracas at the time of the disaster with his club, lost contact with his family during the seismic event. Rescue efforts later confirmed that his wife, Yanina Maranella, and their two children, Aarón and Ainhoa, were among those who died in the collapse of their residential complex.
The earthquake, a rare seismic doublet measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude, caused extensive damage across the region and left thousands dead or missing.
Trejo reportedly spent days assisting rescue teams in search efforts before the tragic confirmation was made.
In the aftermath, fans noticed an earlier social media post from the family that has since taken on a deeply emotional meaning.
