A 9-year-old girl went to the dentist for a routine procedure… but never came home.
Silvanna Moreno was only 9 years old when she went to Dreamtime Dentistry in California for a root canal after months of painful tooth problems.
On March 18, 2025, she underwent a three-hour procedure that included a root canal, crown placement, and multiple tooth extractions.
At first, everything appeared normal.
The clinic said Silvanna was monitored throughout the procedure and was released in stable condition.
But after returning home, something started to feel wrong.
Her family noticed she was extremely sleepy and snoring heavily.
Then her breathing slowed.
Her grandmother checked on her and realized something was seriously wrong.
Emergency crews rushed Silvanna to the hospital, but doctors discovered she was in cardiac arrest.
Despite every effort to save her, the 9-year-old girl sadly passed away.
Later, medical examiners determined her death was caused by methemoglobinemia, a rare blood disorder associated with recent nitrous oxide administration during anesthesia.
Her family is now left searching for answers after losing their daughter, sister, and granddaughter.
Silvanna’s story has raised new questions about anesthesia safety and the importance of monitoring patients even after procedures that seem routine.
A simple trip to the dentist became a tragedy no family should ever experience. 💔
