Claudia Cardinale, Iconic Italian Cinema Star, Dies at 87
Claudia Cardinale, one of the greatest symbols of Italian and European cinema, has died at the age of 87.
Born in Tunis in 1938 to a Sicilian family, Cardinale rose to fame after winning a beauty contest and becoming one of the most celebrated actresses of the 1960s.
She starred in legendary films including Rocco and His Brothers, Fellini’s 8½, and Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West, working with some of cinema’s greatest directors.
Beyond her glamorous image, Cardinale was known for her talent, independence, and powerful portrayals of complex women. She also dedicated part of her life to humanitarian causes as a UNESCO goodwill ambassador.
Her career, spanning decades across film and theatre, left an unforgettable mark on world cinema.
