New Found Glory guitarist and co-founder Chad Gilbert has died at 45 after a years-long battle with cancer.
Gilbert passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, surrounded by his wife, Lisa Cimorelli, his mother and loved ones. His family and bandmates said they were devastated by his sudden passing, describing him as a legendary musician whose greatest accomplishment was being a husband and father.
Gilbert helped shape New Found Glory for nearly three decades. Formed in 1997, the Florida rock band became one of the defining names of the pop-punk era, known for hits such as “My Friends Over You,” “Hit or Miss” and “All Downhill from Here.”
Gilbert had battled adrenal cancer since 2021. His condition became more serious after the disease spread, eventually requiring emergency brain surgery in February. Despite his health struggles, he returned to the stage in June, performing two New Found Glory classics from a motorized scooter during a hometown concert in Nashville.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa, their daughter, Lily, his mother, Jackie, and his brother, Brian.
