Bindi Irwin Recovering After Emergency Surgery
Bindi Irwin, 26, gave fans an update after undergoing an emergency appendectomy shortly after arriving in Las Vegas for the Steve Irwin Gala. Hours after landing, she was rushed to the hospital with a ruptured appendix.
In an Instagram video from her hospital bed, Bindi shared that she’s on the road to recovery. During the surgery, doctors also discovered and removed 14 lesions from endometriosis and repaired a hernia caused by childbirth.
“I’m so grateful to Dr. Seckin and Dr. Chu at Lenox Hill Hospital,” she wrote. “After months of discomfort, I had to seek help. Surgery was a success.”
Bindi, who previously had 37 endometriosis lesions removed in 2022, praised her brother Robert for hosting the gala in her absence and promised to attend the next one in Brisbane this November.
Robert told People she’s doing well: “She was ready to tough it out, but the surgeon said her appendix had to come out.”
Bindi has openly discussed her long battle with undiagnosed endometriosis, saying last year she struggled daily before finally getting answers and treatment in the U.S.
“Endometriosis affects so many and isn’t talked about enough,” she said.
