Prince Harry ‘Heartbroken’ Over Sentebale Resignation Amid Bullying Allegations
Prince Harry is “heartbroken and in total shock” after resigning as patron of Sentebale, the charity he co-founded in 2006 with Prince Seeiso to support youth in southern Africa. His longtime friend, Alex Rayner, says the Duke of Sussex feels “as if he had a finger cut off” following the fallout with the charity’s chair, Dr. Sophie Chandauka.
Chandauka has accused Harry of “bullying” and “harassment,” citing a message he allegedly sent after she refused to publicly deny rumors of tension with Meghan Markle following an awkward moment at a 2024 polo match. Harry reportedly demanded she “explain herself” after her refusal.
Tensions escalated, leading to internal conflict. Sentebale trustees resigned and urged Chandauka to step down, but she refused and took legal action to remain. In solidarity with the trustees, Harry and Prince Seeiso resigned on March 26, calling the situation “devastating.”
Chandauka claims she was resisting being part of the “Sussex PR machine.” A U.K. charity regulator is now investigating.
