The Today show family is mourning the loss of Uche Ojeh, husband of longtime co-host Sheinelle Jones, who passed away at 45 after battling glioblastoma, a fast-moving brain cancer.
The heartbreaking news was shared on the May 23 broadcast, with co-hosts expressing profound sadness. “There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their children,” said Savannah Guthrie. Craig Melvin added, through tears, “He was that dad at every game, every recital — he loved those kids more than anything.”
Uche, full name Uchechukwuka Adenola Ojeh, was Sheinelle’s husband of 18 years and father to their three children — Kayin, Clara, and Uche. The couple met at Northwestern University and built a life rooted in love, faith, and family.
Known for his quiet strength, deep faith, and devotion to his Nigerian heritage, Uche never missed a family moment and brought joy to every room. Guthrie called him Sheinelle’s “perfect match.”
Sheinelle, who had stepped away from the show since December to care for him, broke her silence with a simple tribute: “Thank you, for all of your love and support. ❤️”
