When you see someone doing something you find odd or disapprove of, ask yourself: is it hurting anyone? If not, it’s probably none of your business. People make choices for reasons you may not understand—and if you asked, your perspective might change.
Take Phoebe Kannisto’s six sons from Cheektowaga, New York: triplets (5), twins (8), and a ten-year-old. Until recently, they all had long hair—a personal choice that harms no one, yet drew criticism and bullying, even from adults.
What critics didn’t know was the boys were growing their hair to donate to Children with Hair Loss after losing a family friend to cancer. Their gesture took months, and in the end, they donated 17 feet of hair.
Before judging others, remember: appearances don’t tell the whole story. Respect personal choices—especially those made out of kindness.
