Pit bull with volleyball-sized tumor on her leg gets both good and bad news

Posted on May 25, 2025 By admin

Animal shelters do incredible work giving pets a second chance. That was the case for Libby, a stray pit bull taken in by the Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County in August 2023. Though full of life and love, Libby had a massive 10-pound tumor on her leg—one of the largest the shelter had ever seen.

Despite being overwhelmed with new cases, the shelter prioritized her care. X-rays revealed the tumor was in her leg bone, causing severe pain and requiring amputation. Thanks to generous donations, Libby underwent successful surgery.

Sadly, she was later diagnosed with aggressive bone cancer. But in a heartwarming twist, a vet tech who cared for her adopted her, determined to make her final days full of love. Renamed “Wiggles,” she now enjoys naps, playtime, and the comfort of a forever home.

Though her time may be short, Libby’s story is a powerful reminder of the difference compassion and community can make. ❤️
