Trump Once Posed for Playboy – Now He Might Help Ban Porn
Despite Donald Trump’s past appearances in Playboy and his wife Melania’s nude photoshoots, he may soon support a bill that could criminalize porn in the U.S.
The proposed Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA) aims to outlaw content showing sexual activity or nudity deemed to lack “serious value.” Even platforms like Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) would be affected.
The bill, backed by GOP lawmakers and conservative groups like the Heritage Foundation, is part of a broader push to redefine obscenity laws, with critics warning it could censor everything from adult sites to mainstream shows like Game of Thrones.
Although Trump signed an anti-porn pledge during his 2016 campaign, he did little to act on it while in office. Now, with a possible second term, his MAGA allies are pushing him to follow through.
Senator Mike Lee, who introduced IODA, argues it’s necessary to combat the harmful impact of online porn. But opponents call the bill extreme and a potential violation of First Amendment rights.
Many worry this culture war move could backfire politically—especially among younger male voters who helped Trump win in 2024.
