Carnival performer Josie, dressed as Rainbow Rose, spots a distressed boy hiding at the fair. Using her skills, she gently comforts him, stirring memories of her late sister Rachel and her own grief. The boy, Elliot, clutches a photo of his late mother, overwhelmed by the fair’s noise.

Josie creates balloon animals and tells calming stories, helping Elliot feel safe as they move to the quieter stables. When Elliot’s father, Michael, arrives, Josie is stunned to recognize him. They reconnect, sharing the struggles of loss and caregiving.

Inspired by Elliot’s needs and her sister’s memory, Josie realizes she can bring real joy by adapting her performances for children like Elliot. With renewed purpose, she returns to her booth, ready to brighten dark places once more.
