A young Ohio couple faced unimaginable tragedy while preparing to bring their newborn daughter, Ellieana Peyton, home. Born on March 4 with cardiomyopathy, a rare heart condition, Ellieana spent her first weeks in the NICU at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Despite her condition, she was doing well. However, while her parents briefly left to shower, they received a devastating call: Ellieana had been accidentally dropped after a nurse kept her monitor cords in her pocket, dragging her from the crib. The fall caused a fractured skull and brain bleeds, leading to her passing on March 31.
Described as a radiant soul with a contagious smile and beautiful brown eyes, Ellieana left a profound impact in her 29 days of life. Her family, heartbroken and seeking answers, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support during this devastating time. “She was so loved,” they said.
