Some people should never be allowed near animals.
Hayden Howard of Seymour, Indiana, noticed strange bumps on her 100-pound English Mastiff, Jackson, after he’d been in the backyard. On closer inspection, they weren’t bug bites — they were holes. Jackson had been shot.
Veterinarians found BBs and pellets all over his body — under his eyelid, in his ear, knee, and more. They removed 27 and found 20 more they couldn’t remove, plus 20 additional impact marks. In total, Jackson had been shot nearly 70 times.
Police traced the shots to a neighbor’s yard, where they found a BB gun and arrested Tom Woodward, who had prior drug charges. He now faces animal cruelty accusations.
Jackson is recovering, and many hope his abuser is never allowed near animals — or guns — again.
