Heartbreaking new details have emerged following the sudden death of celebrity chef Anne Burrell at age 55.
Burrell was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn home on the morning of June 17, 2025. Despite emergency efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, Stuart Claxton, reportedly found her on the shower floor around 7 a.m., hours after last seeing her at 1 a.m. Authorities believe cardiac arrest was the cause.
Just the night before, Burrell was in high spirits, performing in her improv class finale at The Second City in Brooklyn. “She was so happy,” said a source who attended the show.
Burrell’s family released a statement remembering her as a radiant presence who touched millions: “Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”
Born in Cazenovia, NY, Burrell was inspired by her mother and Julia Child. She became a TV favorite for making cooking approachable, especially on Worst Cooks in America, encouraging beginners to embrace mistakes and keep learning.
Anne met Claxton on Bumble in 2018, marrying in 2021. They had recently settled into a renovated Brooklyn home. “I love being married,” she shared in 2023. “It’s the adventure together.”
