A New Hampshire mom of four, Wendy Auger, was stunned when the DMV ordered her to surrender the vanity plate she’d had for 15 years: “PB4WEGO,” a playful reminder to her kids to “pee before we go.”
Despite its harmless intent, the DMV claimed it referenced “sexual or excretory acts.” Auger pushed back, saying it was a family joke and part of who they are.
“If I have to take it off, I’m not going to be able to live free,” she said, referencing the state motto. Her Facebook post about the incident went viral, with many calling the situation ridiculous and supportive comments flooding in.
The backlash caught the attention of Governor Chris Sununu, who overturned the DMV’s decision. On August 28, 2019, Auger celebrated online: “This Sassy Momma Has Her Plates!!!”
