In 2016, a camel in India killed its owner after being left tied up for hours in extreme heat without water or shade. The incident occurred in Rajasthan’s Barmer district, where temperatures soared over 109°F. Witnesses say the camel, visibly distressed, snapped when the owner, Urjaram, finally returned. The animal attacked violently—biting, throwing, and ultimately beheading him.
It took 25 villagers six hours to restrain the enraged camel. Locals claimed prior tension existed between the two.
Though often seen as gentle, camels can become aggressive when mistreated. Weighing over a ton and capable of deadly bites and kicks, they’re powerful animals.
Similar fatal attacks have occurred worldwide, highlighting the risks of neglect and mistreatment, and sparking ongoing concerns about animal welfare.
