The soccer world is mourning the sudden death of Liverpool star Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother André Silva, 26, in a tragic car accident near Zamora, Spain.
Jota, a key forward for Liverpool and Portugal’s national team, and Silva, who played for Portuguese club Penafiel, died just two weeks after Jota’s wedding to Rute Cardoso. The couple had three young children.
The Portuguese Football Federation expressed deep sorrow, praising Jota’s 49 international caps and his role in Portugal’s UEFA Nations League wins in 2019 and 2025.
