All dogs deserve love, no matter their appearance. Sadly, some with disfigurements or disabilities are often overlooked — like Serenity, a husky with a massive, untreatable tumor that deformed her face.
Found as a stray, Serenity had no one to care for her until Patti Dawson of Dallas Dog Rescue stepped in. Despite the severe tumor, Serenity showed affection and spirit, convincing Patti she was still full of life.
Veterinarians confirmed the tumor was inoperable, but it doesn’t stop Serenity from seeing, breathing, or enjoying life. Patti and her team were determined to show the world her inner beauty.
Photographer Renee Dowhaniuk captured joyful portraits of Serenity that went viral, inspiring hundreds to reach out with love and support. Now in foster care with Patti, Serenity is living her best life — proof that every dog, no matter their condition, deserves a chance.
