A Community in Mourning: The Tragic Loss of Ava Ann Marie Tabor

Our children are our greatest treasure, which is why the death of 2-year-old Ava Ann Marie Tabor is so devastating.

Ava, born in Texarkana, Texas, was a joyful little girl who loved dancing, helping in the kitchen, and spreading smiles. She lived in De Queen, Arkansas, with her parents, Levi Tabor and Kylie Perez, who adored her deeply.

On a tragic day in early March, Ava was being babysat by 19-year-old Wesley Davis in Lockesburg when he called 911, claiming she was unresponsive. He later reportedly confessed to beating her. Ava was flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital but sadly passed away on March 4, 2025.

Her mother shared a heart-wrenching farewell online, vowing justice: “YOU TOOK MY WORLD… I LOVE YOU, AVA. NEVER FORGOTTEN.”

Davis was initially charged with first-degree domestic battery. After Ava’s death, the charge was upgraded to first-degree murder. His bond was set at $1 million with a no-contact order in place.

The case has shaken the community, prompting threats against Davis. Sheriff Robert Gentry urged the public to let the legal process unfold, promising justice for Ava.

Ava’s family donated her organs, giving others a chance at life. Funeral services will be held March 13 at Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen, with visitation on March 12.

Ava’s light lives on — and her community will not forget her.
