Texas Flooding Tragedy: Over 80 Dead, Camp Mystic Mourns 27
Devastating floods in Texas have claimed at least 81 lives across six counties, with Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ camp, losing 27 campers and counselors. The Guadalupe River’s sudden flooding near Kerrville prompted President Trump to declare a major disaster in Kerr County. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
In the midst of heartbreak, acts of heroism have emerged. Emma Foltz, a counselor at Camp Mystic, is being hailed for saving 14 campers. A Louisiana native and senior at Louisiana Tech, she’s received widespread praise for her bravery.
Survivors recall the floodwaters rising within minutes. Amanda Sue Jones, who escaped with her family, described the terrifying speed: “It went from calm to chaos in moments.”
Camp Mystic continues to search for the missing, asking for prayers and privacy: “Our hearts are broken.” The community, though devastated, is standing strong—remembering those lost and honoring those who saved lives.
