Reazjhana Williams from Denver planned a natural birth in June 2021, but when doctors couldn’t detect her baby’s heartbeat, she was rushed into an emergency C-section.
Her daughter, Kyanni, was born with a deep facial laceration, shocking her parents. Instead of bonding after birth, Reazjhana had to hand her baby over to a plastic surgeon. The cut required 13 stitches.
Doctors explained the baby’s head was close to the placenta wall during the procedure, which may have caused the injury. Denver Health acknowledged the incident, stating it’s a known C-section complication and that they’ve contacted the family directly.
A GoFundMe has raised over $11,000 to help cover medical expenses.
