Woman thinks dog is riddled with bug bites, then realizes they’re bullet holes

Posted on July 14, 2025 By admin

Some people should never be near animals.

Hayden Howard from Seymour, Indiana, noticed her 100-pound English Mastiff, Jackson, was covered in what looked like bug bites after playing outside. On closer inspection, she found his skin riddled with holes—he had been shot with BBs and pellets.

Veterinarians removed 27 pellets and BBs from Jackson’s body and found about 20 more embedded, plus 20 additional impact wounds—nearly 70 shots in total.

Police traced the shots to a neighbor’s yard, where they found a BB gun and arrested the owner, Tom Woodward, who had past drug charges but no prior animal cruelty offenses. Authorities await lab results but believe he’s responsible.

Jackson is now recovering, and many hope his abuser is never allowed near animals—or firearms—again.
