When Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman heard about the Texas flood that took 104 lives—27 of them young girls lost from a summer camp—they were heartbroken. The youngest was just 8. As parents, they cried too. They quickly gave $250,000 to the relief fund and announced a charity concert with Blake Shelton, Alan Jackson, and others to help rebuild. But what truly moved the nation wasn’t just the money—it was a letter they wrote to the grieving families. Simple, raw, and full of love, their words felt like a hug to every broken heart, bringing comfort when it was needed most.

“They Were Just Little Girls”: Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s Heartfelt Promise to Texas Flood Victims

When a flash flood in Ingram, Texas, claimed 104 lives — including 27 young girls at a summer camp — Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman were devastated. “We cried together. Then we knew we had to act,” they said.

The couple donated $250,000 to the Texas Disaster Relief Fund, pledging every dollar to grieving families and recovery efforts. But their response went beyond money.

A Concert of Hope
Keith is organizing the “Rise for Texas” benefit concert, featuring Blake Shelton, Alan Jackson, Lainey Wilson, and others. Proceeds will help rebuild homes, schools, churches, and camps across the Texas Hill Country.

The Gift That Moved Families to Tears
Quietly, the couple sent each of the 27 affected families a silver locket engraved with the girl’s initials and the words:
“She was here. She mattered. She is forever.”

Each box included a handwritten letter from Keith and Nicole:
“As parents, our hearts break with yours… Your daughter’s name is etched into our hearts — and into the heart of a nation.”

“This Isn’t Just Charity. It’s Personal.”
A close friend said Keith told Nicole, “If it were one of ours… I don’t know how we’d go on.” The lockets were their way of honoring that pain.

Hope from the Wreckage
The tragedy left devastation — but also inspired love and support from across the country. The concert is expected to raise millions. Keith will debut a new song, “Hold On to Heaven,” written for the families who lost their daughters.
