Australian actor Tristan Rogers, best known as Robert Scorpio on General Hospital and its spinoff Night Shift, has been diagnosed with cancer at age 79.
The news was shared by his representative, Anthony Turk, in a July 17 press release. Rogers last appeared on-screen on November 12, 2024.
“Tristan remains hopeful and is working with his medical team on a treatment plan,” the statement read. “This is a difficult time, and the family asks for privacy and appreciates the support and love from fans.”
Rogers, who debuted on General Hospital in 1980, became a fan favorite as the suave secret agent. His character, Robert Scorpio, was famously killed off in 1992 but returned in 2006. In addition to his soap career, Rogers earned a Daytime Emmy for Studio City, voiced Jake in Disney’s The Rescuers Down Under, and starred in several Australian series before moving to Hollywood.
He currently lives in Palm Springs and is a father of two.
