Violet ended her radio show with the words, “All men are liars,” a belief shaped by her experiences and stories from listeners. But after a date with coworker James, she started to question it. A call from a stranger soon confirmed her suspicions.
In the radio studio, Violet listened to a caller, Susan, vent about her failing relationship. Violet’s advice was blunt: “Forget him. He’s either cheating or stringing you along.” James disagreed, but Violet stood firm in her belief.
After the show, James awkwardly asked Violet out. She hesitated but agreed, thinking he might be different. At dinner, they shared stories and laughter, and Violet found herself relaxing. But a late-night phone call from a woman named Jane revealed James had a girlfriend, shattering Violet’s hope.
The next day, Violet was cold and distant toward James. Confronted with the truth, he explained his breakup with Jane, and Violet, realizing not all lies are from men, softened. “Maybe not. Should we try again?” she asked, a faint smile returning. James grinned, “Why not?”
