Adam Sandler Honors Cameron Boyce with Subtle Tribute in Happy Gilmore 2
Adam Sandler quietly paid tribute to his late onscreen son, Cameron Boyce, in Happy Gilmore 2, a small Easter egg that didn’t go unnoticed by longtime fans.
Sandler, 58, known for his loyalty to collaborators, included a brief but touching nod to Boyce in the Netflix sequel released in late July. Boyce, a former Disney star, was more than just a co-star—he was part of Sandler’s extended film family. The two first worked together on Grown Ups and Grown Ups 2, where Boyce played Sandler’s son.
Boyce tragically passed away in 2019 at age 20 from an epileptic seizure, just before he was set to film with Sandler again on Hubie Halloween, which later included a heartfelt dedication in his memory.
Now, six years later, Sandler honors him once more. In an early scene of Happy Gilmore 2, a TV in the background shows footage of Boyce from his Disney Channel show Jessie. The subtle moment sparked emotional reactions online, with fans calling it a “beautiful tribute” and “touching Easter egg.”
Sandler’s gesture reminds audiences that Boyce’s legacy lives on — not just in memories, but in the quiet moments that show how deeply he’s missed.
