Day joined Iron Maiden in 1975 at age 19, recruited by bassist Steve Harris. His time with the band lasted just 10 months due to concerns over his stage presence. He was replaced by Paul Di’Anno, then later by Bruce Dickinson, who helped define the band’s sound.
After leaving the group, Day continued his music career with bands like More, Wildfire, and Sweet, eventually settling in Australia, where he remained active in the local music scene. He was remembered for his strong vocals, warm personality, and passion for live performance.
Formed in East London in 1975, Iron Maiden rose to fame during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Known for their energetic sound, twin-guitar harmonies, and theatrical shows, the band became one of metal’s most iconic acts, selling over 100 million albums worldwide.
