Trump Accused of Major ‘Lie’ After Baltimore Remarks
On August 25, Donald Trump signed executive orders while criticizing Baltimore as a “terrible death bed” plagued by crime. Maryland Governor Wes Moore quickly pushed back, urging Trump to “visit our streets” instead of speaking from afar.
Trump then claimed Moore once privately praised him as “the greatest president of my lifetime.” Moore strongly denied this, with his adviser confirming no such exchange occurred. “That imaginary conversation never happened,” Moore said on WBAL Radio.
Moore first responded on social media with “lol,” then fired back: “Keep telling yourself that, Mr. President.”
Trump dismissed Moore as ineffective, lumping him with other Democratic leaders like Gavin Newsom.
2028 Implications
Moore is seen as a possible Democratic candidate for 2028. On the GOP side, Vice President JD Vance is considered a likely successor. Asked about Trump “passing the torch,” Vance replied, “The president talks about everything,” and urged focus on governing before 2028 speculation.
