Jamie Lee Curtis fought back tears while speaking on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast. The actress addressed the mu:r:der of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, reflecting on how viral videos of his sh:0:oting could harm the public’s psyche.

On September 10, Kirk, 31, was f:a:ta:lly sh:0:t during an outdoor speaking event at Utah Valley University. FBI officials confirmed the investigation into his assa:ssin:ation remains ongoing.

Curtis Speaks Out

In her interview, the Knives Out star condemned the killing. “I’m going to bring something up with you just because it’s front of mind,” she told Maron. Fighting tears, she admitted she first misspoke, calling Kirk “Charlie Crist,” before quickly correcting herself.

“I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say,” Curtis said. “But I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected with his faith. Even though his ideas were abhorrent to me, I still believe he’s a father, a husband, and a man of faith.”

The Impact of Violent Imagery

Curtis also warned against the circulation of the assassination video online. She drew a comparison to the endless replays of 9/11 footage.
“Today, we as a society are bombarded with imagery,” she said. “We don’t know the long-term effects of watching towers fall over and over, or seeing his execution again and again. I don’t ever want to see that footage.”

National Response

Curtis was not alone in her reaction. Celebrities like Chris Pratt, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jake Paul expressed grief. Former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden also released statements. Biden added: “There is no place in our country for this kind of violence. It must end now. Jill and I are praying for Charlie Kirk’s family and loved ones.”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris echoed the sentiment, saying she was “deeply disturbed” and condemned the act outright.

The Arrest

Authorities have arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, naming him the suspect in Kirk’s killing. The Utah native was taken into custody less than 48 hours after the tragedy but has reportedly refused to cooperate with investigators.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed the arrest. Meanwhile, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino said Robinson had shown “multiple warning signs” and added that officials are probing whether the attack was part of a broader effort.
