Rosie O’Donnell applies for Irish citizenship, White House says it’s ‘great news for America’

Posted on October 8, 2025 By admin

Rosie O’Donnell has confirmed that she’s now applying for Irish citizenship amid her ongoing feud with President Trump.

In a recent interview with the UK’s Daily Telegraph, the 63-year-old comedian explained how she was putting herself in a self-imposed political exile in Ireland after she first moved there in January of this year.

‘I am applying and about to be approved for my Irish citizenship as my grandparents were from there and that’s all you need’- she added.

It would be good to have my Irish citizenship, especially since Trump keeps threatening to take away mine, she continued. That left a big smile on the White House’s face as spokesperson Abigail Jackson told Fox News that nothing could be better for America than this.

The star first shared how she moved to Ireland in March, adding how she made the decision just five days before Trump’s inauguration in 2025, telling her TikTok followers that it’s been so wonderful.

A few months after O’Donnell shared her big move, President Trump took to his account on social media in July with threats of stripping the comedian of her US citizenship. He shared how the star did not have the best interests of the country and therefore the time had come to consider making a bold move.
