I was the event manager for Catherine, a wealthy heiress, overseeing her luxurious wedding. However, when the groom, Arnold, arrived, I was stunned to see it was my ex, John, who had disappeared six months ago, stealing my savings.
I’m Amanda, a 28-year-old event organizer. Catherine, 38, had hired me to make her dream wedding come true. Despite planning every detail together, her fiancé Arnold was mysteriously absent from the meetings. I was shocked when he turned out to be John—the same man who had once promised me the world, only to vanish with my money.
Six months ago, I trusted John with access to my bank accounts for wedding planning. But the morning after, he was gone, and so was all my money. The police couldn’t help since he had power of attorney.
At the wedding, seeing John now posing as Arnold, I knew I had to expose him. I confronted him in front of everyone, but Catherine’s brother, a police chief, dismissed me. Undeterred, I disguised myself as Catherine’s long-lost grandmother, Linda, and returned to the wedding.
I brought a fake diamond worth $800,000 as a “gift” to the bride. When John attempted to steal it later, I knocked him out with a decanter. Catherine’s brother then had him arrested.
Catherine thanked me and, a week later, offered me a job as her personal assistant. I accepted, knowing I had protected her from the same betrayal I suffered.
