Homeless woman rebuilds camper to cozy home

Posted on October 30, 2025 By admin

I’ve always dreamed of owning a camper — but maybe not like Mama V did.

This inspiring woman is winning hearts online after transforming a rundown old camper into a cozy home.

Once a city mom of three from Alabama, Mama V struggled with anxiety and decided to leave urban life behind. She moved into a mini school bus and spent six years traveling the U.S. before settling in the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas to live off the grid.

Living with her cats and dogs, she built her own tiny homestead — complete with a shed, animal area, and chicken coop. But as her furry family grew, space became tight.

That’s when a kind neighbor offered her an abandoned 1980s NuWa camper. Though old and dirty, it was structurally sound. With help from friends Jayme and Kevin, Mama V cleaned, repaired, and decorated it into a warm, welcoming space.

Inside, she discovered propane tanks, a full kitchen, twin beds, and even a bathroom — the perfect temporary home while she continues building her log cabin at Possum Run Homestead.

Mama V’s journey is a powerful reminder that with determination, community, and creativity, even the smallest dreams can become reality.
