Donald Trump’s Health and ‘Wrinkled Hand’ Rumors
Earlier this year, Donald Trump became the oldest U.S. president ever inaugurated. Now 79, the former real estate mogul insists he remains in good health despite public concerns about his age.
White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella’s April report described Trump as “fully fit” for office, citing normal test results for his heart, eyes, ears, and other organs. The report noted a benign colon polyp, mild diverticulitis, and medication for cholesterol, cardiac prevention, and a skin condition. Trump also had cataract surgery and maintains what Barbabella called “robust physical and cognitive health.”
Still, Trump’s appearance has drawn attention—particularly bruises and wrinkles on his hands spotted multiple times since his 2024 court appearance. The White House attributed them to excessive handshaking, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt calling Trump “a man of the people.” Trump himself told Time the marks came from greeting “thousands of people.”
Medical experts say the bruising appears consistent with minor trauma or blood draws, common in older adults with thinner skin. Dr. Ola Otulana said it “doesn’t raise any immediate red flags,” though blood thinners or aspirin could make such bruises linger.
More recently, social media speculated that Trump was wearing a catheter at a June UFC event, citing a photo showing a line down his pant leg. Critics claimed it was medical tubing, while others dismissed it as a simple crease.
Despite ongoing rumors, Trump’s doctors maintain that he is physically and cognitively fit to serve as president.
