A federal judge has just ruled that President Trump illegally ordered the deployment of the National Guard to Portland in Oregon.
The ruling comes from the court brought out by the city of Portland and the Oregon Attorney General’s Office, who continued to argue about the administration exaggerating isolated incidents of protest-related violence to justify using military forces.
The judge found that the deployment did not meet the legal threshold needed for revoking domestic military forces, specifically that the protests did not amount to a rebellion against the US government.

The decision replaces an interim order that was previously put in place and served as the first permanent block on Trump’s attempt to make use of military power in different American cities.
Trump described Portland as a war-ravaged nation and mentioned that the federal immigration facilities were currently under siege by Antifa.

They cited nightly threats to federal buildings. But officials in Oregon argued that such incidents were small in scale and could only be handled by local law enforcement and federal agencies without the National Guard.
The administration mentioned how the Guard was needed because regular forces were unable to enforce the laws of the US.
The White House replied by stating that Trump would not turn a blind eye to the lawlessness prevailing in the nation and expects such a ruling to be overturned after they launch an appeal.
