If you happen to be a huge fan of Singapore or have plans to visit the popular travel destination soon, then we’ve got news for you.
Air passengers who depart Singapore will soon be liable to pay a green fuel levy that could cost nearly $32 from next year. The news comes as the city-state locks in a major step in its effort to reduce the aviation industry’s emissions.

Travellers who opt to fly in economy and premium economy class, as well as those on short-haul flights, would be asked to pay a smaller fee, but it would be liable to all passengers, local media outlets have confirmed.
Those passengers will pay an additional $1 for trips to Southeast Asia and $10.40 for flights to America, as confirmed by the Civil Authority of Singapore on Monday. It also shared how business and first-class travellers will pay nearly four times more than usual.

The news comes as part of the country’s aims of having a cleaner and more environmentally friendly country. Passengers who are transiting the city-state would not be liable to pay this fee. At the same time, cargo flights will also be liable to pay, and they will be charged on a per-kilogram basis.
