Zohran Mamdani’s NYC Mayoral Win Sparks Controversy
Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the New York City mayoral race has divided opinions. MAGA supporters branded him a communist, and Donald Trump threatened to cut federal funding to the city if he won.
Mamdani, who takes office on January 1, 2026, defeated independent candidate Andrew Cuomo with 50.4% of the vote. Despite his win, criticism from Trump allies continues.
Before the election, Trump called Mamdani a “communist” and warned that New York would face “economic and social disaster” under his leadership.
Now, former NYC mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani has joined the attacks, advising Mamdani “to step down and do something else.” Speaking to the NY Post, Giuliani accused him of supporting “Muslim extremism” and labeled him a “serious security threat.”
Giuliani, once dubbed “America’s Mayor” after 9/11, claimed Mamdani’s alleged ties make him unfit for office, saying, “He’s a communist and a sympathizer for Muslim terrorism.”
