King Charles continues cancer treatment after being diagnosed in February last year, while Kate Middleton is now in remission. The Royal Family has faced a difficult year, with Prince William taking on more duties during his wife’s illness.
According to The Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty by Robert Jobson, when William asked his father to slow down and follow medical advice, King Charles bluntly replied, “Think again.”
Charles was praised for revealing his diagnosis and stepping back from public duties during treatment. Just a month later, Kate also announced her cancer diagnosis, prompting William and Queen Camilla to represent the monarchy in their absence.
Kate said at the time, “For everyone facing this disease, in whatever form, please do not lose faith or hope. You are not alone.”
Jobson writes that William found the year “the hardest of my life,” struggling to balance royal duties and family care. Reports also suggest tensions between Charles and William, with “angry rows” overheard by palace staff over issues like preserving royal ivory treasures — which William wants destroyed, but Charles insists should remain as historical artifacts.
