Country music star Todd Snider has died at 59 after suffering “severe injuries” in an alleged assault. His team confirmed he passed away on November 14 after being taken to the hospital.
In a statement, his team described Snider as a beloved songwriter and storyteller, mourning the loss of their “Folk Hero” and “Poet of the World.” Originally from Oregon, Snider moved to Nashville in the 1990s and became a key figure in alt-country and Americana, especially with his 2004 album Eat Nashville Skyline.
Earlier this month, Snider was arrested in Salt Lake City and later treated for injuries. He soon announced the cancellation of his High, Lonesome and Then Some Tour, saying he had been the victim of a violent assault outside his hotel.
Days later, those close to him reported he had developed walking pneumonia after struggling to breathe post-hospitalization, asking fans to keep him in their thoughts.
Let me know if you want it even shorter or in a different tone.
