Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban divorced earlier this year after 19 years of marriage, citing “marital difficulties and irreconcilable differences.” Now Kidman’s ex-husband, Tom Cruise, has allegedly weighed in with a harsh remark.
Cruise and Kidman, once a major Hollywood couple, married in 1990 after meeting on Days of Thunder and divorced in 2001. Shortly after their split, Kidman joked on Late Night with David Letterman that she could “wear heels now,” drawing laughs and fueling rumors that their breakup was tense.
Reports at the time claimed Kidman left after refusing to raise their children, Conor and Isabella, in Scientology. Cruise later had daughter Suri with Katie Holmes but is now estranged from both.
According to the Mirror, Cruise has been following news of Kidman’s split from Urban and allegedly called it “karma” for how she treated him during their divorce. An insider told International Business Times that Cruise felt unfairly portrayed as “the bad guy” while Kidman gained sympathy, and that her public comments—such as jokes about his height—left him feeling hurt.
The source said Cruise feels “proven right” about the Kidman–Urban marriage, adding that while he feels some sympathy for her, he also believes their divorce is “karma doing its thing.”
